On June 23rd Panasonic announced the Toughpad® FZ-E1 and the FZ-X1 to the United States market. These new products are the world’s most rugged 5-inch handheld tablets with voice and data technology. They are MIL-STD-810G certified and IP65/68 tested, with a 10-foot drop resistance, operating temperature of -4°F to 140°F and a glove-enabled multi touch sunlightreadable display. The Toughpad FZ-E1 will run the Windows Embedded 8.1 Handheld OS and the FZ-X1 will run Android 4.2.2 OS. Both devices boast the world’s longest battery life for a handheld tablet, with 14 hours of continuous data access. The rugged tablet battery quickly charges to 50% in just one
hour, and can be hot- swappable. In addition to the OS security features, both devices will be FIPS 140-2 Level 1 compliant. Customized options include integrated barcode reader, mag stripe reader and certified ANSI 12.12.01 for hazardous locations. Accessories will include hand straps, shoulder strap, holster, vehicle mount, multi-device cradle and multi-battery charger.
Models will be made available in stages over the next six months, with limited quantities in August. Rugged Pc Store will be working exclusively with Panasonic to provide our customers the first opportunity to purchase these units.
